Today we start looking at Paul’s first letter to Timothy.
It’s tempting to gloss over the first few verses when we start reading the Epistles. It’s like when you get an official letter with all sorts of logos, addresses, and reference numbers scattered across the heading. We give the top a quick scan to see who it’s from, and then on down into the main text to see what the letter is really about.
But Paul begins his letters to the churches in various different ways, and it’s always worth our while to look at what he has put, because the words and phrases are deliberately chosen and are not just a bit of blah-di-blah.
