RIVERCHURCH HAS A VACANCY FOR A PASTOR
Riverchurch is located at La Forge, Reynès, near Perpignan, South of France.
We are an English-speaking evangelical church serving Anglophones who don’t have sufficient French language skills to integrate into a French church. We seek to encourage our congregation in their Christian Walk and to help them share the Good News and make disciples of those around them. The congregation is drawn from full-time residents, second home residents and people on holiday. There is an ebb and flow in the congregation throughout the year.
The successful candidate without an EU passport will be required to apply for a long-term visa.
This is a “living by faith” position, although some financial support is available (currently around 1,500 € per month).

Riverchurch Profile
Riverchurch is an English-speaking Christian community, based near Perpignan, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of Southern France.
It was established in 2008 to fill the gap that existed for a church to supply the need of English-speaking worship for those people whose lack of French language skills, prevented them from fully integrating into a French congregation.
The church has, of necessity, moved location on several occasions and is now located at La Forge, Reynès, close to the city of Perpignan.
The congregation consists of English-speaking:
- full-time residents
- second-home residents
- students
- people on holiday
- a virtual community who follows our services online
Activities
Sunday morning service. The service is recorded for online distribution.
Fortnightly midweek fellowship meetings comprising Bible study and lunch.
Tuesday morning prayer meeting via WhatsApp group.
Annual Christmas event.
Riverchurch is devoted to:
- serving English speakers in Pyrénées-Orientales who desire to worship in English.
- encouraging the congregation in their Christian walk and to help them share the Good News of Jesus and make disciples of those around them.

Owing to our unique situation, Riverchurch is not affiliated to any particular denomination, but we hold to the statement of faith of the Evangelical Alliance
Riverchurch pastor profile
We are seeking a pastor who is a Bible based Evangelical, with strong pastoral skills.
We would hope to be led by:
- An able preacher and teacher of the Gospel who believes in the authority of the Bible and whose ministry is rooted in scriptures and led by the Holy Spirit and who will encourage further prayer life in our community.
- A person with a concern for outreach and faith development who will encourage the expression of Riverchurch by leading modern/contemporary worship but with an acknowledgement of the traditions of our varied “part-time” members.
- A person with pastoral skills who enjoys engaging with the wider community – both expatriates and the local French population.
- A person who has a heart for ministry with children and young families and who will make home visits as necessary.
- A person who can inspire and challenge us and so discern, develop and use the gifts of members and lead by example where we are weakest.
- A person who is warm and outgoing and has a collaborative approach to decision making.
Role and responsibilities
- The pastor is primarily responsible for proclamation, prayer and pastoral care.
- The pastor will lead regular Sunday worship and bi-monthly midweek activities designed to grow individual and corporate faith, combining with outreach to attract new members.
- There will be six weeks leave of absence each year.
- The pastor will play an active part in the community.
Remuneration
- This is a “living by faith” role – a formal remuneration package is not available. However, it is the practice of Riverchurch to make funds available to the pastor as our financial circumstances permit. As a guideline we have been able to sustain monthly payments of around 1,500 €.
The new pastor will need either to hold an EEC passport or have the necessary government permission to reside and work in France.
